‘Personnage au Soleil Rouge I’

Joan Miro
The origin of our vintage reproduction prints is particularly interesting. These are amazing pieces from iconic artists, printed using offset printing methods to accurately reproduce one-off lithographs or aquatints. Many of the prints are 50+ years old and were produced within a few years of the original, often while the artist was still alive and overseeing their production and dissemination. This means that each piece is an authorized reproduction from an art portfolio, that also carries details of the expert European printers behind the work too – some of whom are still in operation today.

While they don't have allocated limited edition numbers, their vintage origin adds a rareness to them, giving you a touch of genuine legacy without the hefty price tag.
This vintage offset print is an authorized reproduction of the 1950 original. At a finished size of 12 3/4" x 14 3/4", it’s the perfect size to hang almost anywhere, sneak it into a nook or give it some space to breathe.

This print was produced in 1972 by renowned printshop Mourlot; started by Fernand Mourlot in 1895, and is often credited for leading the resurgence of lithography as a medium for artists. Their printshop was situated on the rue Chabrol, one of the more popular neighborhoods in Eastern Paris. Mourlot became a regular collaborator with other well known artists such as Picasso and Matisse over the years.

Personnage au Soleil Rouge I is framed in solid white oak frame, with a UV filtering matte anti-glare glazing, and a brown paper dust cover on the rear, with wire attached and ready to hang.
